Onion Chutney – A Quick Make!
Onion Chutney Recipe: I simply love making chutneys. They are easy to make and save lot of my time especially in the hectic morning schedule. I keep experimenting with the ingredients and there are times when certain combinations have made me go mad. I liked the taste of onion chutney that I made this week as a side for idlies and thought its a must share for viewers.
Ingredients:
1 big onion (cut into large pieces)
3 red chillies
4-5 Garlic pods
1/2 tsp cummin seeds
1 inch tamarind
1 sprig of curry leaves
3 tblspn grated coconut
1/2 tspn mustard seeds
Salt o taste
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan. Add cummin seeds, red chillies, curry leaves and then the onions. Sauté for two minutes and switch off the stove. Let the ingredients cool off.
- Transfer the ingredients to the mixer jar. Then add tamarind, coconut, garlic, salt and blend everything together to chutney consistency by adding very little water. Transfer the chutney to a bowl and keep aside.
- Now heat 1 tblspn oil in a pan. Add the mustards to splutter. Add this tempering over the chutney and serve hot with idli and dosa.
Happy cooking!
