Carrot Cabbage Recipe:
It’s fine when it comes to salad, soup, rolls or sandwich, but to eat carrot alone as a side dish is something that I wonder, how many of us would prefer. So, I generally prepare it as a combo with another veggie. It tastes really good with cabbage. Kids would also like it.
1 cup grated carrot
2 cup finely chopped cabbage
1/2 medium sized onion (finely chopped)
2 red chillies
1 stalk of curry leaves
1/4 tspn turmeric powder
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cummin seeds
salt to taste
1. Heat 2 tbl spn oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and red chillies. As the mustard seeds splutter, add cummin seeds, onion and curry leaves. Saute until the onions become translucent.
2. Now add the cabbage, salt, trumeric, sprinkle some water and close the lid. Cook in medium flame for 5 mins.
3. Now add the grated carrot and cook for another 2 mins with lid closed. Switch off the stove
4. Serve hot with rice. Goes well with kara kozhambhu, sambar and curd
