Mint chutney
Mint chutney:
Mint chutney with idli or dosa is famous in South India. It has distinct taste and is good for digestion. Mint chutney with ragi dosa is a perfect combination. (watch out for Ragi dosa recipe in my up coming post)
Ingredients:
1 cup mint leaves
1/4 cup coriander leaves
1/4 cup coconut (cut into small pieces – remove the brown inner skin)
4-5 green chillies
a dime sized tamarind
1/2 inch ginger
1 tbl spn urad dal
salt to taste
Method:
1. Heat 2 tbl spn oil in a pan and saute the urad dal until it turns brown. Then add the rest of the ingredients and saute for 2-3 mins until the mint leaves shrink. Let it cool off.
2. Grind the sauted mixture to a chutney consistency and serve it with idli or dosa.
Note: This chutney tastes good with steamed rice when more tamarind and chillies are added.
